KO Healthcare
I really wanted to pay my respects on the passing of Senator Kennedy, but I guess I am not as forgiving a sort as I should strive to be. I just keep having this visual of a drowning young woman clawing at the windows and door handle of a car as she fought a watery death. She lost that struggle. If the story had as its centerpiece, a valiant struggle by a young "prince," scion of a dynasty, to free her, instead of taking time to have a nap, shower, shave and breakfast, I would have shouted his praise from the rooftops. But, I am not here to bury "Caesar," or to praise him. He is already dead and buried.
If media reports are to be believed, the Lion/Lord may be dead, but his dead carcass will be hawked to support healthcare "reform." Yes, the on life support healthcare bill is about to be resuscitated/resurrected by being renamed "Kennedy/Obama" healthcare. Maybe it is because I am a former boxing fan, that as soon as I saw "KO," my mind flashed to the proverbial "knockout." I did not see the knockout as the healthcare plan being "KO'ed" by any criticism. I saw the knockout being administered to the hapless among us, if the critics are correct when they report that the elderly, the disabled and babies who do not "measure up," will not be beneficiaries of any new healthcare plan. Their "option" may be to be sent on their way to join Senator Kennedy on that barge of death.
I am taking a more positive stance. I refuse to believe that our exalted and revered leaders could be so callous as to "assist" the defenseless into the netherworld. I hold onto hope that our leaders will have our best interests at heart. By the way, if anyone tries to apply any "comparative effectiveness" yardstick to my beloved Stepfather, that bureaucrat will have to take his eighty-something body from my "cold, dead hands!" Thank you for the quote Mr. Heston. My Stepfather, with his sharp wit, intelligence, and wisdom, is more "comparatively" or relatively effective than a lot of the not yet certified idiots who are ruining this country!
Why is it when I see the word "communitarian," a visual of "communism" careens across the video of my mind? What the heck is "communitarian" anyway? Could it be that my subconscious is even more conscious than my "conscious mind," and is warning me that under a "communitarian" system, my body becomes "community property," as in my freedom to choose my own healthcare option will be in the hands of some government bureaucracy? Will I be forced into the "illiterate witch doctor" option, to still have a choice in choosing my care, if the "government, public, cooperative" option becomes the law of the land? At least my doctor will not need to be able to read that "heavyweight" 1000 plus pages bill!
One last question, totally unrelated to anybody or anything already written about, just a random thought that popped up from that very active subconscious....why is it that the more "education" some folks have, the more they qualify for being the truly disabled among us? Maybe they shouldn't be so quick to categorize others as "disabled."
So here we are. In this corner, are the "Tea partiers & townhallers," who demand a say in continuing to choose their own healthcare. In the opposing corner, are their elected representatives, who are rigidly sticking to the "do as I say, not as I do" manner of governing. One big sticking point in this verbally pugilistic engagement is the insistence of the leaders on keeping their, as some call it "gold plated" healthcare plan, while trying to push the led into the greatly feared mandate of less care, and probably quicker departure to join both Senator K and Mary Jo K.
I am with our leaders. It is hard work passing laws that everyone else should obey, and keeping that fine balance in coming up with the exact wording that exempts the lawmakers, while keeping us ignorant of the details. I slipped up just now. I meant to type....while making us understand that their exemption is to our benefit. I am glad that I caught that error! We should be kinder to them and realize how mentally taxing it must be to want to obey those same laws, but knowing that it is imperative that there be this necessary barrier between the governed and the governing class. Have you hugged your lawmaker today? As soon as I find out the identity of my lawmakers, I am going to fit it into my agenda to hug, hug!
The anti-healthcare protestors should comfort themselves with the certainty that they will not travel that path to death alone, not even left to drown in a waterlogged car. They will have counselors to guide them through the "end of life" process. Heck, if the life of the nation continues along its current path, bloated with debt, citizens being made to feel as if they are the real enemy, to name just two of the ills, even I may welcome that "end of life" counseling ahead of time!

The real threat of Obama, inc is economic. We spend an enormous amout of money in the US today taking care of our health (both personal wealth and government wealth) The combination of huge, unprecedented spending and the limitations put on wealth creation (cap and trade, no drilling for our own oil, no nuclear energy, etc) are putting the country in an extremely precarious financial situation. Poor countries have poor health care because they can't afford better - no matter what kind of government. Medicare is going broke as is social security and all the other major government "healthcare" programs. Without money, healthcare will be rationed, regardless of whether it is government controlled or not.
