Be Still My Soul (The Real One is in complete control)

The bad economic news continues. The nation's financial cup overflows, not with plenty of money, but with plenty of debt. Here in Los Angeles County, kids are being counted among the homeless, and the fastest growing segment. Nation-wide, the stories abound about political and financial malfeasance.

The latest hot story which could serve as exhibit #1001, is a story about a "commode on legs." While an executive's company was on its last legs, he "invested" almost $36,000 on said "commode on legs," facilitated by those bailout for bimbos dollars, courtesy of the representatives of Uncle Sam. I cannot vouch for the business savvy of investing in such a commode, as the only commodes that I know, do not have legs. They remain in place and serve their owners for many years, and most of them cost about $200 bucks?  Did I mention that the $36,000 was a small part of a $1.2 million "refurbishing" of his office?

I did take note that the spending by executives with a toilet fetish, has increased by about $30,000. The last executive spent "only" $6,000 for a toilet seat. He is now a guest of Uncle Sam, and looking for, not a bailout, of dough, but a bail out (as in get me the heck out of here), from his current quarters. For his sake, I hope that he has not run into new "friends," named Tiny or Peewee, while sitting on his new throne!

Courtesy of one of my online "correspondents," David Z, I received a listing of the numbers of union leaders, businessmen and political leaders, currently indicted and/or convicted of their own malfeasance. The words "fraud," bribery," "conspiracy,' "false,' and "perjury," kept cropping up. There was even "witness tampering,"  thrown in for good measure.  Almost all of the letters of the alphabet, are represented in this line up of perps, numbering over 9000 politicians, about 60 businesspersons, and almost 350 union leaders.

One thing that struck me is that women have been complaining about the glass ceiling, keeping them back from equal opportunity with men. That is not the case with this list of tortfeasors. Some "sisters" are in there with the "big boys!" Instead of a chorus of "let's hear it for the boys," I am singing "let's hear it for the girls!" There will be no glass ceilings holding them back from joining their greedy, corrupt mail counterparts behind steel bars! I just love equal opportunity! Those 'girls" must have been singing "yes we can," all the way to the can!

So who is this David Z? He is a retired patriotic American who is being very productive in his retirement, by keeping score of corruption in high places, by lowlives who are taking the country down with them. Maybe he should be hired to keep track of those who are invading the country! Thank you, David Z!

Even David Z, if he is not yet aware of this, would be surprised at some of the shenanigans of some of the socalled "least ethical folks of 2008." I read a report on a company Website about one company executive, who of course sailed off into the night with a golden parachute, when his real flair for lustful enterprises came to light, and his employers decided that it would be cheaper to pay him in the millions to leave, rather than possibly lose billions in bad publicity and/or loss of business.

They had to protect the bottom line, when his bottom(line) became exposed, so to speak! According to the report, this executive had about 30 girlfriends, seemingly simultaneous with a wife. He "proposed" to 12, had one wife in one state, lived with another "wife" in a second state, texted one girlfriend to "abort," when she presumably found out that she was about to produce an unwelcome addition to this exec's hectic lusty lifestyle. I read this story in amazement. For a fleeting second I thought, "man I should have been working there and caught his eye!" I coulda been a contendah! With that "budget" spent on "friends," I could have had my share!

Then I remembered Whom I serve. He, The Real One, does forgive and is long-suffering,  but He has His limits, and I do not want to be at the end of those limits!

I turn to this Real One when my soul threatens to not be still, and is downright perturbed. I have been turning to Him more and more, as I read the stories of greed and corruption, contrasted by the layoffs and the cries for help from ordinary folks. These are folks, for whom one man's "commode on legs," represents less than a year's salary. I have become downright "clingy" in my relationship with The Real One, and the great part for me, is that He does not demand much from me. Sure, He does instruct that I shall have no other gods but Him. Not a problem. The pretenders to His throne do not pass my test of fealty. Many of them want to see me become a human torch to prove my love. He does not. He sent His Son in my place.

Isaiah 41:10

10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Luke 11:2-4

2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3 Give us day by day our daily bread.

4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

Psalm 34

1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.

11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.

18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.

21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

Psalm 37

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

It Is Well with My Soul

  1. When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
    When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
    • Refrain:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
  2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
    Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
  3. My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
  4. For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
  5. But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
    The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul!
  6. And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
    The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
