A Call for Prayer for this Nation-Day Twenty Three
I was not attracted to this country by stories of gold coins on the streets or a chicken in every pot. I was attracted by the ideals and ideas upon which this country was founded. I was fascinated by men who gave up, in some cases, their treasure, their families and even their lives, to found a country on Biblical principles. Were those Founding Fathers alive today, they probably would be shocked to see the deterioration of the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," in this "one nation under God." They would probably feel that they were watching a bad episode of "The Twilight Zone," when they see evidence that the God upon whose providence and guidance they relied, is slowly and inexorably being chased out of public life, starting with the public schools, where God has been replaced with violence, drug use, condoms on cucumbers, and every conceivable and some unconceivable variations of life styles.
Tomorrow, we go to the polls to select new leaders, and I will not be posting on this blog. I leave tomorrow for the business of voting.
In this my last pre-election blog, I am going to submit myself to God's will. Let His will be done. Should I be privileged to draw breath on Wednesday, 11/6/08, and the election results are complete, I will accept what God has decreed, and I will learn whatever lessons I believe that He wants me, and indeed this nation, to learn. I already know one lesson that I mentioned earlier, that is to work towards the restoration of God's preeminence in this nation. We cannot survive without His divine intervention, even if it means that He has to save us from ourselves. So to use the word made almost famous by one of our Presidents, I will leave it up to God to be the "decider." His will be done. I bow in obedience.
In closing out my pre-election blogging, I have to give credit to BibleGateway.com for being a source where I was able to find the Biblical passages that I selected for each day's post. I was able to pull up verses from the King James version of the Holy Bible, without having to prop up my own Bible and type out the verses, as would have happened in pre Internet days.
Hebrews 4:12
Psalm 119:105
Revelation 1:3
2 Timothy 3:15-16
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
James 1:2-6,12, 17-18, 25
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
